ScaledOS exists because of a frustration that kept repeating itself - brilliant founders, great businesses, and an exit conversation that happened too late to change the outcome. We got tired of watching it. So we built the tool we wished existed.
"How much is my business worth, right now - warts and all - and what do I do about it, and in what order?"
Ask any B2B founder what their business is worth and you'll get one of three answers: a number they made up based on a multiple they read somewhere, a figure from a valuation done three years ago, or a shrug.
None of those answers are good enough. The problem is not that founders don't care - it's that there has never been an honest, accessible way for a B2B founder to understand the real health of their business, what it's worth right now, and what they should actually be doing about it.
After two decades of building, selling, investing in and advising B2B businesses - and sitting across the table from hundreds of founders at exactly this moment - we kept seeing the same pattern. Great business. Poor visibility into the value drivers. An exit conversation that started too late to change anything meaningful.
The number a buyer puts on the table is not set in the deal room. It is set months - sometimes years - before anyone even mentions a sale. By the time a founder finds out what their business is actually worth, the opportunity to change it has already passed.
At Scaled, the question that sits behind almost every engagement - whether we are brought in as a NED, an adviser, or a growth consultant - is always a version of the same thing: how do we make this business worth more, and by how much?
Enterprise value is not a number you calculate at exit. It is something you build, quarter by quarter, by moving the right levers in the right order. The problem was that most founders had no reliable way to see the levers, measure their position, or track the progress over time.
We were doing this work manually - in boardrooms, in workshops, in late calls with founders - and the insight was powerful. But it was slow, expensive and inaccessible to most founders outside a consulting engagement.
So we stopped talking about it and built something. ScaledOS is the operating system for enterprise value - the tool we wished had existed every time we sat down with a founder who had built something remarkable and had no honest read on what it was worth or what to do next.
It is not a spreadsheet. It is not a consultant's deck. It is an always-on intelligence layer that does for your enterprise value what a great finance director does for your P&L - makes it visible, trackable and actionable, every quarter.
The scoring model is not theoretical. It derives from a private-equity valuation framework obtained on a live deal, calibrated against real transaction data, and shaped by the collective experience of operators who have built and exited businesses themselves.
Simon spent the first decade of his career building digital businesses - a content affiliate group in the mid-2000s, and then an agency group that grew to 270 people and £23m in revenue before being acquired by IPG PLC in 2016. He knows what a deal room feels like from the other side of the table.
That experience - and the realisation of how much value is made or lost in the years before an exit, not the weeks during it - led him to Haatch, an early-stage VC fund that has now backed north of 100 B2B businesses. The pattern repeated itself constantly: great founders, insufficient visibility into value, exits that underperformed what they should have been.
Scaled was built to fix that for the businesses already at scale. ScaledOS was built to make the insight accessible - not just to the founders who can afford a NED or an advisory engagement, but to every B2B founder who is building something worth building and deserves to know what it's actually worth.
The tool is the thing we wished had existed every time we sat in a boardroom with a founder who was flying blind. It still is.
